6/2 MLB DFS Studs & Values

6/2 MLB DFS Studs & Values

There are eight games on the schedule tonight, and a lot of attractive high priced options in salary cap contests to consider.

Rain is moving in to New York City, which threatens the Cubs-Mets game a little bit, so monitor it before locking in any players from that game.

Here are my favorite plays for this evening’s slate:

Stud: Jacob deGrom (vs. Chicago Cubs)

deGrom has thrown three consecutive quality starts. In his last seven games, he is 2-0 with a 0.45 ERA and a 12.27 K/9 in 40.1 total innings. Yeah, he’s pretty good. I like his chances to have a good day against the Cubs this evening at Citi Field.

Also Consider: Justin Verlander (vs. Boston)

Value: Walker Buehler (@ Colorado)

Buehler? Yes, I like him today despite this game taking place at Coors Field. Buehler pitched 7 innings, allowed 1 earn run and notched 6 strikeouts against these Rockies on May 21st. Buehler’s been impressive since being called up at the end of April – he has a 10.54 K/9 and 2.20 ERA on the year. I think the upside is worth the risk with him today.

Also Consider: Chris Archer (@ Seattle), Cole Hamels (@ LA Angels)

Stud: J.T. Realmuto (@ Arizona)

The Marlins against Zack Greinke? Believe it or not, its a good matchup for these hitters. The Marlins have hit for a combined .310 average and .946 OPS against Greinke in 66 total plate appearances. Realmuto himself is 3-7 with a .929 OPS against him, and one of the stronger plays at the position in my book as a result.

Also Consider: Wilson Ramos (@ Seattle)

First Base

Stud: Eric Hosmer (vs. Cincinnati)

Matt Harvey is pitching at Petco Park tonight, which means the Padres should have plenty of opportunity to put runs up. They have an implied run total of 4.2 this evening. Hosmer is a perfect 4-4 with a double and a 2.250 OPS against Harvey. He’s also hitting .333 in the last week, which means he’s riding a bit of a hot streak heading into a strong matchup.

Also Consider: Joey Gallo (@ LA Angels), Max Muncy (@ Colorado)

Value: Justin Bour (@ Arizona)

Bour is 3-9 with a home run, 3 RBI, and a 1.111 OPS against Greinke. He’s another strong option for what’s likely to be a contrarian stack on the night.

Also Consider: Mitch Moreland (@ Houston)

Second Base

Stud: Jose Altuve (vs. Boston)

Altuve is 7-19 with a double and an .821 OPS against David Price in his career. He’s hitting .500 this week, with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Fade him at your own risk.

Value: Ian Kinsler (vs. Texas)

Kinsler is 7-18 with a double, a home run, 2 RBI and a 1.061 OPS against Cole Hamels. If he’s in the leadoff spot tonight, he’ll be an incredible value on the road tonight. He’s hitting .400 with 2 HR and 5 RBI in the last week, which means he’s quietly been thriving in Altuve’s shadow at the position.

Also Consider: Eduardo Nuñez (@ Houston)

Third Base

Stud: Justin Turner (@ Colorado)

Turner is 2-8 with a home run, 2 RBI and a .958 OPS against German Marquez in his career. He’s also hitting .273 with a home run and 4 RBI in the last week.

Also Consider: Alex Bregman (vs. Boston)

Value: Adrian Beltre (@ LA Angels)

Since returning from the DL, Beltre has played one game and gone 2-4. He likes facing Garrett Richards – he’s 14-45 with a .923 OPS in his career against him. He should be in the lineup tonight based on that success. If he is, he’s a good value play.

Stud: Carlos Correa (vs. Boston)

Correa has homered in two consecutive games against Boston – could it be a third tonight? He has a home run and a 1.500 OPS against Price in 6 total plate appearances. It will be tough to pair him and Altuve together tonight, but they both look like strong options.

Also Consider: Chris Taylor (@ Colorado)

Value: Brandon Crawford (vs. Philadelphia)

Brandon Crawford is hitting .346 in the last week, and probably likes that Vincent Velasquez is coming to town tonight. He’s 2-4 with a 1.350 OPS in 5 total plate appearances against him.

Stud: Matt Kemp (@ Colorado)

The Dodgers heading to Coors Field tonight means every single member of the offense is in play. Kemp is 1-3 with a double and a 1.000 OPS against German Marquez. The Dodgers have an implied run total of 5.6 tonight. He’s projected to be in the middle of the order, which makes him one of the stronger plays as a result.

Also Consider: Justin Upton (vs. Texas)

Value: Jose Pirela (vs. Cincinnati)

Pirela is hitting .320 in the last week, and is part of a Padres lineup that faces Matt Harvey tonight. I’ll be pairing him with Hosmer as a result.

Also Consider: Delino DeShields (@ LA Angels)
